Lesson 3.1 Video 2: The Reward Circuit and Stress
This video tells the brain story behind nothing feels fun. Students meet the orbitofrontal cortex, which helps decide what is worth it, and the ventral striatum, which turns that value into motivation. Chronic stress is shown acting like a circuit breaker between them, leading to lower effort and lower reward seeking.
The lesson also introduces dopamine as the this matters signal and explains structural plasticity, the brain reshaping and rebuilding that bridge. By the end students see that this circuit is tired, not doomed.
