Lesson 5.1 Preschool Lesson Plan: Outreach/Application
This optional section is designed for instructors, counselors, and peer educators using this course. It is not required for students taking the main “Help Stressed Students With Brain Basics” curriculum.
This outreach lesson is an example of how to turn the core ideas from this course into something preschoolers can understand. I took a simple brain health theme and renamed the ideas as “brain helpers” and “brain hurters,” then built the lesson around short stories, feelings, and movement instead of science terms.
You can use this as a template if you want your own students to apply what they learned. Ask them to take the reward and stress ideas from this course and break them down into “brain helpers” and “brain hurters” for young kids or other audiences. It is a concrete way to practice translating brain science into simple, kind language that still keeps the core message about brain health.
